If you are interested in aviation - its history, its achievements, the individuals and companies that made modern aviation possible and viable, then this is a must visit web site for you and your fellow enthusiasts.
British Aviation 100 is a focus for celebrations of 100 years of pioneering and innovation by extremely talented individuals, companies and marques. For most of the twentieth century the UK aviation industry was a world leader - not the biggest but certainly at the leading edge of design, use of technology, even passenger comfort.
Much of what was achieved in the early years of aviation is now overlooked or passed by in the rush of the modern information age. British Aviation 100 exists to celebrate those achievements, accumulating displays, archive material, replica aircraft and models, and biographic memorabilia, using the information age to ensure these achievements are never forgotten.
These collections will be accessible at air shows, at air museums, through specially compiled and recorded material and through annual events hosted by British Aviation 100. Each year, one or more of the great names from aviation history will become the core of British Aviation 100 events, taking off with an Edwardian-themed feature exhibit at the Brooklands Museum Aviation Centenary Event on June 7th, 2008 and followed by the British Aviation Centenary dinner at Mercedes-Benz World, in celebration of the achievements of Alliott Verdon Roe, who went on to form Avro, one of the foremost British aircraft manufacturers. These events form part of a series of celebrations of 100 years of aviation co-ordinated by the Royal Aeronautical Society.
